fab 5

Hey lovelies!

Sorry this is little late...
Yesterday I had a problem with my laptop. Very much along the lines of Carrie Bradshaw's "sad mac" moment.

Luckily it's running smoothly now (finger crossed)!

Hysteria. It's about how the medical management of hysteria let to the invention of the first vibrator... My must-see movie choice of the week. Even if you just watch it look at Hugh Dancy.

Saddle Shoes & Eloise! What could be better?

"Sex, freedom, movement, sensuality, minimalism" were what motivated creative director Raf Simmons debut this week at Dior. I'm always a fan of Dior's "new look" and their Spring/Summer collection is utter perfection.

It's amazing what a girl can do with a glue gun and some acorn shells...

city chic

Laundry dress,  Heet leather bracelet,  Deepa Gurnani headbands and ring all from Jigsaw. Dollhouse denim jacket,  N by Nicole Miller heels,  pearl bracelets I made.

This outfit embodies all the things I've been loving lately in an outfit:

The glamour of sequins,
the laidback feel of denim
and vintage boho sparkle a'la my headbands.
(I layered 2 headbands this day for a little more pow!)

Emmy 2012 Fashion Faves

Although these are my faves from the 2012 Primetime Emmy's, I must admit I wasn't as blown away as I've been in the past. A lot of ladies played it too safe in my book.

The exception were these five who rocked it in my eyes... everyone else take note!

HOT Trends of The Night: hi-low hemlines, sheer fabrics and sunny yellow.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique L'hullier. The intensity of the orange red pattern over nude was softly sexy and retro. I like that she kept everything else simple and her shoes were to die for.

I thought Jessica Pare looked so pretty in this Jason Wu gown. I love the one shoulder and the starkness of the black belt on the white gown. Her hair and make-up were spot on too.

The original Mrs.Draper, January Jones went for all out drama in this dress by Zac Posen. The skirt of this dress is like art to me. I love the volume of it, yet the sheerness makes it light.

Leslie Mann rocked it in this yellowy-orange Naeem Khan number. The intricate detailing of the top of her dress looked so cool next to the full, modern skirt. I love how she wore turquoise jewelry to pop the look.

I don't know much about Emily Clark, other then the fact that she's a total fashionista! She killed it in this Chanel dress. I LOVE THIS LOOK. I love how Karl Lagerfeld attached this open skirt to a sexy, short party dress making it fun and unexpected. Fashion kudos for the effortless pony too!

a bit of leather & a shade of grey

(top: Eva Franco, jeggings: Mos Mosh (both recent Jigsaw), heels: Nine West Brasil, ring: Charlene K, bracelets: various)

And no, I'm not referring to anything having to do with Christian Grey ;)

On a fashion level I'm loving leather (and it's vegan counterpart) like crazy right now! When done right it can be very girly and sophisticated, a'la my peplum top.

I also am loving grey. In my eyes, it's as versatile as black. And because there is at least fifty shades of it, you're bound to find a shade that suits you.

So I was playing around with this necklace the other day and realized it makes a pretty cool hairpiece...

Just a little project I'm working on to add some color, sparkle & texture to my apartment walls. All it takes is shoe box lids, glue, paper, glitter, magazines/newspapers (I used The Inlander even), a little imagination and viola, one-of-a-kind wall art! (I'll be sure to show you when I'm finished with the entire wall!)

Bright and Happy! Cloud-Streaked Skies at Michael Kors, Spring 2013.

With Bated Breath, a painting my friend John started this week which I posed for, anxiously peering out the window before a date.

Everything about my apartment is mismatched, but somehow it just worked when I had friends over for dinner. We made browned butter & mizithra cheese pasta w/clams like The Old Spaghetti Factory makes!

Happy weekend everyone!

night owl

Denim makes everything instantly cooler!

Especially when paired with something less predictable like lace, a girly print or sequins.
A lot of times my outfits have so much going on. I use a denim topper to tone things down a notch.

I encourage all of you fashionistas to add a denim jacket/vest/top to your wardrobe rotation... Now!

Jason Wu had one of the most beautiful Spring/Summer collections during New York Fashion Week. Romantic, sexy and whimsical all at the same time.

Sipping on "The Chelsie" at Sapphire Lounge, my favorite place to go for a cocktail. It's the girliest, yummiest grapefruit concoction EVER. They put these grown-up gushers (Italian imported, brandied cherries) as a garnish that absolutey makes the drink.

Prabal Gurung Resort 2013. I'd sum this look up as Mod Futurism.

Prepared for the ocean like any true fashionista. Wearing leopard print rainboots, neon knee highs and a floral print romper.

My favorite outfit of the week: Kelly Osbourne working the color block trend at New York Fashion Week. She got a lot of flack for this ensemble, but I'm in love with the entire thing. Especially the hair!!!

throw on your body con

To make your wardrobe go farther, throw on your fave body-con dress, usually reserved for weekend nights out on the town, under a skirt like I did here.

It easily becomes a fabulous top, and because of it's tighter fit on the bottom, nobody would ever know the difference!

print happy

Although the sleeves are my favorite part of this vintage dress (after the print anyways) I knew I'd be dying of heat wearing it out for happy hour with my girlfriend...

The solution:
I pulled the dress down so it was like a tube, with the sleeves underneath my arms. Then I twisted both sleeves and tied them together at the nape of my neck to make it a halter dress.

The twisting completely covered up the fact that my "straps" were actually sleeves!

I think this would work with most anything long sleeved, as long as the fabric has some stretch to it.

Give it a try yourself. I'd love to see pictures!

I'm in love. I can so picture myself wearing something these Sandro bronze wedge sneakers ($565, Stylebop) this Fall layered up with chunky socks and tights!

It's all about the little details... My belt didn't have enough holes in it to cinch in the waist so I tied it. The knot made my entire outfit much more interesting.

Anna Wintour & Blake Lively at Fashion's Night Out NYC last night. Gorgeous!

Fashion BAND-AIDS. It's really bad when your band-aids are so cute that you almost want an excuse to be "hurt"...

When I was visiting the Olympic Game Farm last week I couldn't help but love this zebras print. It made sense to me why animals can be so inspiring on a fashion level.

Have a fab weekend everybody!
