poetic dressing

My sweet date for the evening, Ian :)
Make a wish!
Finally had the perfect excuse to wear my "poem" dress by Byron Lars last Friday night (you remember the one I was coveting a couple months ago). My good friend Ian invited me to his fraternities formal dinner at The Steam Plant Grill. The food was delicious, but what was most exciting about the place was it's atmosphere! All the original brick, metal and pipes gave off a very cool, urban feel. A fun clash with my romantic, ethereal dress!

Fab Five

The five things that I'm loving, being inspired by and what's making me happy this week...

Red Velvet Cake Pops! So delicious, but so much work! Hopefully I've worked out the kinks so that they will be prettier and easier next time around.

My bff Jordon visited this week! We had such a lovely/hilarious/fun/relaxing/girly time together. Miss her already!

Dolce & Gabana Spring 2012 runway show. I thought there emphasis on the bodysuit was exciting, especially with there over-the-top detailing!!! I want to wear something like these NOW!

One of the coolest secret(ish) spots downtown... underneath the old tent structure in Riverfront Park! It makes you feel so small in comparison to its grandness and  the wiring sort of resembles lines from a compass. Go at night for the best experience!

Happy Birthday Eloise! Can't believe she's already 5 (or 35 in dog years)!

Have a Fabulous Memorial Day weekend everybody!

A bit boho

I love dressing boho, it makes me feel so at ease when I dress that way. It's such an easy look to achieve too...  I just threw this crochet top on over a printed maxi dress (now it looks like a maxi skirt!) and wore some natural looking stone and shell jewelry to give myself an easygoing, boho look!

Fab Five

I absolutely loved this outfit, I felt like Sarah Jessica Parker all night, running around the city! You can barely tell, but those are sequin tap pants!!!
My boss received this card last week and thought it totally was referring to me :)

Frieda Pinto in lime green Atelier Versace at The Cannes Film Festival! How amazing is this color?

Mothers Day treats from Madelines! They were all sinfully delicious, but my families mutual favorite has got to be there Napoleons!

I love this image!A close-up of Fan Bing Bing ant The Cannes Film Festival.  The colors and detailing of the striped clutch/embellished dress combo are fabulous!

Oh, the drama

Absolutely breathtaking! Eva Longoria wore this Elie Saab concoction at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week. She looks absolutely amazing! This is probably the most beautiful dress I've ever seen! Fellow actresses, take note...

Downtown girl

Okay, so I know you've already seen this dress before, but I love how the denim vest just makes the look a little cooler, less worked at! Denim jackets/vests/shirts (and it's look-a-like cousin chambray) always tone down a look which is great when you're going for that downtown girl vibe like I was last Friday :)

Fab Five!

So proud of this weeks art project... girly wall art that made my apartment a little more home like! Very glam I must say!
My Mani-Pedi spot!  Color coordinated, naturally!
Pam Hoog, Fall 2012! Futuristic & Fabulous!
Walked past this tree in the park the other afternoon. The smell of these flowers was intoxicating! I love this time of year when everything starts to bloom :)
My favorite treat (and dinner many nights)... Grilled peanut butter, raspberry jelly, bananas and chocolate chips on whole wheat bread! Oh so delicious!

Hope you all enjoyed what I'm loving this week! Have a Fab weekend my fellow fashionistas!

The Met Ball

Monday night (May 7th) was the annual Met Ball in New York City. My favorite part about this event is obviously the fashion. I feel like the stairs that the celebs and designers walk on as they arrive add so much grandjure to the fashion that they sport. It's a great dramatic setting. Here are some of my fave looks from the very glamorous night... Enjoy!
Carey Mulligan in a gold and silver pailette covered Prada concoction. This is so beautiful. I love the high shine & the texture from the pailettes. She's such cool girl and a totaly fashion maven, how could anyone not adore her stylish English self?

Va Va Va Voom! Renee Zellweger in a backless Pucci number! I don't think I've seen her look this gorgeous in a long time! Love the ruffled train and the sheer inlets through out the gown! Beautimous!!!

Emma Stone in red Lanvin! I just think she is adorable and her whole look matches her sweet, charming personality. So, sooo retro!

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte. I know most of you are going to think I'm crazy for loving this, but I admire that she did something different. Maybe she isn't the most glamorous of the night, but she took a chance and to me that's wht this night should be about. The way her outfit is paired together with the belt is very cool, she looks like a 1940's movie star!

No more little white gloves... black are so much more fun to wear ;)

Wore this yesterday... I've been dying to wear these lacey vintage gloves for too long. For me, it's challenging sometimes to figure out the perfect outfit to compliment the gloves... I thought this worked well because the dress is so sweet with the carousel pattern, and the black lace trim tied the gloves into the story. Paired with a wide brimmed hat (it was The Kentucky Derby after all) I was all set!
Note: I quickly found that gloves and retail don't mix, but I toughed it out! Next time I will probably wear them for a night out on the town. How cute would they be with a cosmo in hand???

A Kiss of Color

I'm getting my kisses elsewhere these days... ha ha! For the Camden Moore Benefit (going on May 5th) at Jigsaw we set up this delicious little candy bar! Don't you just love how the Hershey's kisses bring out the purple of my undershirt??

I'm loving these aloe-vera green skinnies (Mu Jeans, Jigsaw) for there intense shot of color! I paired them with this lacey vintage blouse from the 70's (so excited about this find) and layered a lavender tank underneath.

I loved the clash of the very vintage top with the soooo now colored skinnies, a smidge unexpected and super cool :)
